NATURALMENTE ARTIFICIAL (2013)
At present, we are surrounded by artificial constructions. The idea of the natural is difficult to pin down. Los Pantanos de Villa, located on the outskirts of the city -Chorrillos-, are an example of the relationship between nature and man.
For the development of this work, the pictorial aesthetic is taken as a reference, which was the first to take action on manipulation in photography, both before and after the shot. Reality is altered in order not to simply represent the everyday and conventional.
In this project, the interventions to the images are resolved through the digital platform to bring them closer to the pictorial aesthetic in a contemporary way. The approach to each image is both conceptual and physical. The purpose is to represent the artificial through the manipulation that is carried out in the photographs, with photography being a means for the creation of said images.
The landscape turns out to be one more construction that man makes on nature. It is no longer possible to differentiate the natural from the artificial with certainty because we are neither aware nor capable of discerning the intervention that man performs on all things. This question about man's relationship with nature has been a frequent research topic in the history of photography.
